IPL In The way of Becoming the Global Sporting Event

Indian Premier League has confirmed the huge popularity of Cricket in India. it will be unfair to say that before the IPL got started, cricket was less followed by the Indians or it was not as popular as today it is. But the IPL has established the game of cricket as the most popular, beneficial and superior sport in India.

It is brightening the future of many young cricketers by providing them a platform where they can play with the great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Mathew Haydan, Shane Warne and many others. It might be dreamy moment for any young bowler to bowl against great batsmen and similarly for a young batsman to bat against many great bowlers who have taken retirement from the international cricket. This is the magic of IPL which brings the past, present and future together.

In the very short span of three years, Indian Premier League has shown great progress in terms of attracting both the spectators and sponsors.

Apart from making good contribution to the game of cricket, it is proving a wonderful money-making tool for the organizers, team owners and the players.

According to the inaugural Annual Review of Global Sport Salaries published by sporting intelligence.com, Indian Premier League’s annual average income is 2.5 million pounds, second to the American National Basketball Association (NBA) League whose annual average income is 2.62 million pounds.

American Major League Baseball (MLB) is the third highest paid league with 1.82 million pounds. English Premier League ranks fourth in the list. at the rate of 1.46 million pounds.

As far as teams are concerned, in the list of 211 teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore ranks in the twelfth place with the earnings of 57,833 pounds which is two place above the English Premier League giant Manchester United.

There are three IPL teams in the list OF the TOP thirty teams. Along with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings are the other two teams. While the Manchester United and Chelsea are the two teams which have got place in top thirty.

After taking all this into consideration, one can imagine the way IPL is growing and is very near to become one of the most popular leagues of the world.
